PRONUNCIATION
Today, I’m confuse about pronunciation lesson on the
class. Because, I get the task to do by self. The teacher doesn’t tell more to
the students. She gives me task to make a learning experience on pronunciation
practice on the subject Double Consonant at Word Juncture, and Word Stress.
After out from the class, I go to the internet café to
hunt the material about them. I don’t care that I feel hungry, that I thirsty,
that I feel tired, that I feel sleepy, because this task can make me to effort
by hard up to I find the answer of my task. I don’t care that the time is over
when I go to the internet café, that I spend much money to stay in the internet
café. Because I don’t have internet acces provider in my home.
O….my God, please help me! Get me miracle to finish my
task. I was bored if I always get bad score in this lesson, and also shy with
my classmates who get great score. I join several websites to look for them, I
try to join one by one, and finally I found them. This is my result about Double
Consonant at Juncture and Word Stress.

Word Stress
In English, we do not say each syllable with
the same force or strength. Word stress is part
of the language, especially in English. English speakers use word
stress to communicate rapidly and accurately
Example:
O o
equal
|
o O oo
equality
|
O o o
equalise
|
o o o O o
equalisation
|
Patterns can usually be found, for example:
O o final neutral
|
o O oo finality neutrality
|
O o o finalise neutralise
|
o o o O o finalisation neutralisation
|
There are some recognised differences in word stress which depend on the
variety of English being used, for example:
o o O o Caribbean aluminium (British English)
|
o O o o
Caribbean aluminum (American English)
